Among many of his heroic stories, the Goverdhan Parbat is one where Krishna shelters an entire village from life threatening thuderstorms and rains, symbolic of Lord Indra's wrath. He lifts the Goverdhan Parbat on his littlest finger while the villagers and helpless animals take shelter underneath it. This is an artistic depiction of the story.
This Saanjhi was done by Mohan Verma. Mohan ji is a prominent Saanjhi artist whose family has practiced the art for over 400 years. While he travels across the world exhibiting his art or conducting workshops, he stays in Mathura, where the art originates and works out of the studio at his home.
The work does not come framed but it does include the batik effect blue handmade paper backing.
