The Raas or dance is one of the most iconic images of Radha Krishna across many art forms in India that celebrate Krishna's vibrant personality. The Saanjhi art originates from Mathura, the birth place of Krishna. Many of the works in Saanjhi are dedicated to his stories. This is one such.
The Raas is carved on handmade paper by Mohan Verma. Mohan ji is a prominent Saanjhi artist whose family has practiced the art for over 400 years. While he travels across the world exhibiting his art or conducting workshops, he stays in Mathura and works out of the studio at his home.
The work does not come framed but it does include the fuschia and gold handmade paper backing.
