A Indigo & Magenta Cotton Silk saree handwoven by the women weavers of Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh.
Like the colours, the saree is a contemporary design, that carries unmatched borders. One is a thicker striped design & the other a traditional Chatai design - a signature pattern for the saree. The horizontal stripes on the body culminate into the Jhaala pallu to make an unconventional checks pattern. The Jhaala pallu is one where the pallu is woven separately much like an extra weft weave to create a contrast. This is a time consuming process that takes about two days.
Maheshwari sarees, do not have a front or reverse side. Their Bugdi borders too are reversible.
A matching blouse piece is included.
With every purchase of the Maheshwari range of sarees, you are helping the local women weavers of Maheshwar live an independent & dignified life.
Actual colours might vary slightly owing to lighting & screen calibrations.
