Read the Story
Cheriyal is a scroll art from the namesake town in Telangana. Scrolls were meant for Gypsy storytellers, who moved from village to village staging plays & they narrated the stories. While the Kathakalus are narrators of the travelling stories, the Chitrakaars painted the stories.
Today, the Chitrakaars paint smaller stories as paintings on canvases but the stories are still charming.
The GandaBerunda was Vishnu, when he came to defeat Sharaba, a Shiv avatar, who had come to reign in another Vishnu avatar, Narsimha. Every piece of art, opens a new story.
