Kar-e-Kalamdani

Pen case work or Kar-e-Kalamdani as it was called refers to painted pen cases. The Kashmiri Papier Mache boxes started as pencil cases & even boxes to store the precious Kashmiri shawls.

The mesmerizing designs & adaptability of paper mache to take multiple shapes, allowed the art to take many more forms from boxes to jewelry to even pieces of furniture.
