Parandi's & Long Chotees
Parandas are a beautiful tradition intrinsic to Punjab & popular across India.
Silk threads were woven together & adorned with colourful tassels, ghunghroos & mirrors before weaving them through a long Chotee that falls well below the waist.
Punjabi women made Parandas at home & what started as a hobby is a much loved accessory across cultures. Patiala craftsmen are today the most talented Paranda makers.
Today it is a fashion statement, but traditionally the Paranda had cultural significance. It was believed, the longer the Paranda, the happier the marriage was. They were a good luck charm & a sign of prosperity.
