Charms in Mittikaam
Khavda pottery from it’s name sake village is one of the oldest forms of potteries in India. Traditionally the potters crafted glasses, plates, water bottles & bowls in a mitti brown base. Black & white lines, dots & geometrical shapes were used to decorate these utensils. The results were rustic & stunning.
Small toys crafted in clay were also made in this style. Today, the art is being used in many more ways & it all helps in keeping it alive.
Hurbai, an experienced artist, painted pots, large plates, small kullads & smaller bells. She found great joy in painting these pretty neckpieces. The smaller the pieces, the more skill needed to carve & paint them.
